From LCT/NLA Show

The National Limousine Association’s (NLA) board of Director’s has retained one of the nation’s top Public Relations firms to battle Uber & Lyft. They have authorized almost ½ million dollars as the initial payment to fund this campaign. The Ballroom at Caesar’s Palace erupted in thunderous applause when Gary Buffo President of the NLA made the announcement at the LCT NLA East Show on Monday Oct 20th. Scott Solombrino one of the founding members of the NLA and president and CEO of Dave El/Boston Coach, a Marcou Transportation Group company announced that the battle is on, and that the NLA is deeply committed to organizing and rallying the industry in the fight against TNC’s (Transportation Network Providers).

The NLA will be rolling out a credentialing program in conjunction with the PR Campaign. The NLA logo on your website and on your vehicles will tell that world that your company meets the strictest criteria in the industry and will assure the riding public that their safety is our highest priority.  Dave Shaw President of the SWFLA (Southwest Florida Limousine Association who also serves as a board member on the NLA said “It’s an awesome step forward for our industry. The NLA’s accreditation program will let people across the country know that NLA member companies are the legitimate alternative to companies like Uber and Lyft. It is a historic moment for the NLA. The board has never before authorized that kind of spending. This gives every company a very powerful incentive to join the association.”

Stuart Varney of the FOX Business Network and host of Varney & Company (weekdays 11am-1pm/ET) was the keynote speaker and gave a very intelligent presentation on the economy which had very interesting parallels to the current mental state of our industry. He shared his view based upon demographic studies that despite the fact that the mainstream news media is always talking about the decline of America, demographically America is poised for a period of growth and expansion  far out passing every other economy including China’s. Parallels can be draw to our industry besieged by these upstart TNC companies, but the realities are that by adopting new technology, providing superior customer service and by networking together our industry will grow at an exponential rate.

The concurrent sessions provided a wealth of educational opportunities and the show floor was packed with the latest vehicle offerings, software and innovative offering. The LCT/NLA has committed to Harrah’s for the Eastern Conference through 2017.
